CHAPTER 9.20: SHOPPING CARTS
Section: 9.20.010: Removal.
a) No person shall remove from the immediate store or parking premises of any food store, market or other mercantile establishment in the city any shopping cart, wagon or similar device bearing a notification affixed thereto in a conspicuous place thereon to the effect that such cart, wagon or device is not to be removed from the owner's premises, unless such person is the owner or owner's employee or agent, or unless such person is in possession of written authorization to so remove such cart, wagon or device, which authorization has been issued by the owner thereof or his authorized agent or employee.
Section: 9.20.020: Abandonment.
a) No person shall abandon or leave any such cart, wagon or device which has been removed from the owner's premises, as designated in Section 9.20.010, upon any public street, alley, sidewalk, parkway or other public place, or upon any private property not under the exclusive control of such person abandoning or leaving such cart, wagon or device.
Section: 9.20.030: Collection.
a) The police department of the city is authorized to collect any abandoned carts upon any public street, alley, sidewalk, parkway or other public place, or any carts abandoned upon the private property of a person not the owner of said cart. The police department is further authorized to surrender said carts to the owner thereof, upon the payment of one dollar each for the return of said carts.
